INTERFACES

ALS Interfaces (NIFC-XX) are designed to be connected to the Bus/port lines of ALS make trainers to study the practical application of how the Microprocessor is used in day-to-day requirements.

NIFC – 01A * STEPPER MOTOR INTERFACE

Stepper motors are Electro mechanical Trainers for position control. This interface can control One MOTOR. Used to control single phase, two phase, three phase and four phase stepper motors. Different phases are indicated by LED's. The control is done through the 8255 port lines.

NIFC 05-A LOGIC CONTROLLER INTERFACE

The ALS NIFC 05-A logic controller interface provides the user with 12 digital inputs and 12 digital outputs. The inputs can be set through 12 numbers of toggle switches on the interface card or they can be tied to external TTL level sources. The toggle switches allow a TTL high or a TTL low to be set. The O/P’s are buffered and can be connected to external devices. The I/P and O/P levels are indicated through on card LED’s.

NIFC - 06 A* DUAL DAC INTERFACE

This unit interfaces Two DAC's 0800 - (8bit). Output Amplifiers to provide unipolar or bipolar voltage is provided.

NIFC – 07A * 8 BIT SUCCESSIVE APPROXIMATION ADC

This is based on ADC 0809, which is 8 bit and 8 channel input multiplexer. This is interfaced through one of the 8255. The conversion is 100 microseconds. Input voltage range is 0 to 5V.

NIFC - 09 * KEYBOARD/DISPLAY INTERFACE

This provides the user with 20 keys & a 4 digit display mounted on a single board very useful in learning to control the microprocessor based instruments, where in a command is given from keyboard and simultaneous display is available on the card. Controls are achieved through software which can be written so as to make this unit as a calculator. This control is through the 8255 port.

NIFC - 11 * TRAFFIC LIGHT SIMULATOR

This provides an example as how the traffic signals are controlled using a processor. The control is through the 8255 port. The signals are indicated by means of Red, Green and Amber LED's.

NIFC - 15 * 8255A STUDY CARD INTERFACE

This interface allows the user to study 8255 in three modes. The Intel 8255 is a general purpose programmable I/O device designed for use with Intel microprocessors and microcontrollers. It has 24 I/O pins which may be individually programmed in 2 groups of 12 and used in 3 modes of operations.
This interface is designed in such a way that PORT A can be used as both I/P & O/P. PORT B can be used in output mode only and PORT C can be used as O/P in mode 0 and as control/status in modes 1 & 2.

NIFC - 17 *ELEVATOR INTERFACE

This interface is designed to simulate an elevator. The control is through the 8255 the user can study how elevator can be programmed to control its operation like simultaneous request handling, priority assignment handling etc. Our interface has an example of four stories building with Green LED indicating that the elevator is in a particular floor, RED indicating request.

NIFC – 21 * 8253 / 8251 STUDY CARD INTERFACE

It allows the user to understand the operations of 8253 in all modes and 8251 transmission and receiving operations using RS-232C and RS-422A standards.
The datalines, address lines, read & write signals, interrupt, reset etc., required for the interface is provided by 50 pin bus connector of the trainer kits. The interface between the kit and NIFC21 card is done by connecting one end of 50 pin flat cable to the bus connector of kit and other end to 50 pin connector of NIFC21 board.

NIFC - 24 STUDY CARD FOR 8279

NIFC-24 is an interface for the study of keyboard and display controller (8279) for trainer kits.
It is compatible with the SDA-85, SDA-31 and SDA-86 kits.
It allows the user to understand all the modes of operation of 8279.
The NIFC-24 is connected to the kit through a 50 pin flat cable connector. The data lines, address lines, read & write signals, interrupt, reset etc., required for the interface is provided through the 50 pin connector of the trainer kit.

NIFC-27 ADC/DAC Interface

 

NIFC-38 - MULTIPLEXED SEVEN SEGMENT DISPLY

This interface is designed to illustrate the use of multiplexing technique in display interface. It consists of 6 numbers of seven segment Displays. The Seven segments of all the displays are shorted (i.e. ‘a‘ to ‘a‘, ‘b‘ to ‘b‘ and so on) and are driven from a BCD to seven segment latch Decoder/Driver. The individual Common cathodes of the displays are connected to the outputs of a decoder / current sink IC

NIFC-39 - MATRIX KEYBOARD – 3 X 8

This keyboard interface consists of 24 nos. of computer grade keys, organized as 3 rows by 8 columns, and is designed to interface to the PPI (8255) in our trainers and PCI add-on card
The keyboard is scanned using port lines PC0, PC1 & PC2 and the return lines are connected to port lines PA0 to PA7.
A number of experiments connected with interfacing keyboards can be conducted. The interface is housed in our standard plastic box

NIFC-40 - DAC INTERFACE

This interface allows the user to study the interface of an 8 bit DAC (D800). It provides Unipolar and Bipolar outputs.

NIFC-41 - TEMPERATURE MEASURMENT INTERFACE

This interface consists of a Probe mounted AD590 Temperature Sensor, conditioning Electronics and an 8 bit ADC, AD0809

NIFC-42 - SPEAKER INTERFACE

This allows a user to study the interface of a speaker to generate tones.

NIFC-45 - LCD AND KEYBOARD INTERFACE

The interface consists of single line 16 character LCD display and a 4X4 hex keypad.

NIFC-46 - MULTIFLEXED DISPLAY AND KEYPAD INTERFACE

The interface consists of 6 numbers seven segment display and a 4X4 hex keypad. The displays are multiplexed.

NIFC-47 - TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER INTERFACE

This interface is used to study the temperature control mechanism using a Microprocessor / Controller. The setup consists of a sensor (AD590), a source of heat energy (water bath) and a control circuit (interfaced to a kit) to maintain the temperature of the water bath at a specified value. Temperature can be controlled in the range of ambient to 95 degree centigrade.

NIFC-49 - RTC, LCD & KEYPAD INTERFACE

This interface is designed to conduct Real time clock, LCD and keypad related experiments.

NIFC-53 - DC MOTOR CONTROL INTERFACE

This interface consists of the Interface card and DC motor mounted in a single housing. The unit operates off 230V AC, 50 Hz and allows the user to study the interface of a DC motor, to vary its speed through port lines and is compatible with our Microprocessor / Microcontroller Trainer kits. DC MOTOR – 12V DC, 6 Watts.

The ALS-NIFC-63 interface board has the following features:
